Top Three Face Masks for Clear Skin and Radiance

Top Three Face Masks

While adopting an effective daily skincare regimen is a must, I’ve found that added little “boosters” to your routine can do wonders.

Here are some of my favorite masks to boost the skins clarity and radiance.

Before beginning any masking routine, make sure you do the proper prep work:

Cleanse — I wouldn’t dare do a facial mask without a good double cleanse. The aim is to do a deep clean pre-mask so all those beneficial ingredients get the chance to absorb into the skin.

Get steamy — There’s definitely a reason they do this at the spa (aside from the relaxation element). While pores are not doors (they can’t open and close), a good steam can work wonders in loosening up hardened oil and impurities in the skin. Yes, it can be dehydrating and potentially cause broken capillaries, but exercising good caution (aka don’t put your face too close to the steam) should keep you safe while still reaping all the benefits. Plus, you’ll be shortly replacing any potential hydration loss by smothering your skin with hydrating serums and moisturizers post mask.

You can choose to get your steam on through a quick fix (boil a pot of water and hold a towel over your head..my method of many years) or make the investment in a facial steamer.

Get Masking

Here are some of my favorite masks to boost the skins clarity and radiance.

Feeling Dull? Uneven Tone or Texture?

This is definitely my most used mask, Drunk Elephant was not messing around with this product. The T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial packs a whopping 25% AHA at an ideal pH level of 3.5, guaranteeing results - almost the results of an at-the-spa facial. Make sure to hydrate hydrate hydrate with your favorite serums, oils (not for me), or moisturizer after and say hello to the opposite of dull.

Feeling Dehydrated?

I recently just discovered the brand Youth to the People and I’m so into it. I really really am not one for oils or jar packaging, but something about their moisturizer and now this mask has me hooked (and didn’t break me out). Let’s say I was a little over zealous during the week with my AHAs and BHAs or retinol - I turn to their Superfood Skin Reset Antioxidant Mask for smoothing and de-flaking when I’m feeling dehydrated or lack that plump feeling.

Feeling the Build-Up?

Does anyone else experience this? Sometimes I just need a good physical exfoliator. I turn to this Peter Thomas Roth Mask when I need to experience a light, yet effective scrub. This is my go-to before any hair removal techniques to prevent ingrowns (more on this hair removal method to come, are you interested?). I do this mask once a month or so when I really want to clean the slate, help the skin cells turn over a bit faster, and make my serums really sink in. It’s called a Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer for a reason.
