How To Achieve the Low-Bun Hairstyle

Let’s face it—who isn’t lazy with their hair?

I find this to be more the case more often than not, turning to my trusty bottle of dry shampoo when I need some extra styling help. As of late, I have been really crushing on the low bun. It’s so easy and chic and is the perfect complement to dry shampoo hair.

Low-Bun Hairstyle Inspiration

To keep things from getting stale, I have made a collage of ways to incorporate different looks and accessories with the low bun. This is quickly becoming my go-to weekend hairstyle as well. I love that it gives the opportunity to show off some statement accessories like earrings or a trendy headband.

Low-Bun How-To

Here are my go-to steps when creating this look:

1/ Dry Shampoo

Get rid of any obvious oil and add some texture to the hair.

2/ Get Volume in the Right Places

Take a fine-tooth comb and give a slight tease to areas that flatter the face i.e. the crown, side pieces, etc.

3/ Secure Bun With Clear Elastic

Personally, my hair is way too thick and heavy to secure with bobby pins. I like a minimal and undone vibe when I wear this look so I use clear elastics. This still gives me secure support I need to keep things sturdy and in place. I typically use two clear elastics: one to secure the ponytail, and a second to do the bun loop.

4/ Pull Out Strategic Pieces

To get that wispy vibe, pull out a few pieces around the face and in the bun. This give the look a chic, lived-in feel.

5/ Accessorize

As you can see in my inspiration above, accessories look so chic and fresh with this look. From statement earrings and hoops to scarves, hats, and scuncis, the possibilities to complement your outfit are endless.
