The Clear Skin Tonic I Drink Daily
you are what you eat (and drink!)
This refreshing little number is my clear skin secret weapon — aka a vitamin c and antioxidant powerhouse. As cliche as it may sound, clear skin really does start from within. As someone prone to breakouts, both my skincare routine and clean eating are a must to keep breakouts at bay. I think it’s so important to nourish your body from the inside by eating nutritious foods (cut out the processed food) and staying hydrated, and the impact this has on keeping your skin clear can’t be underestimated.

Ingredients
1 tall glass of water
1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar (with “the mother”)
Juice of one lemon
A crack of Himalayan salt
I try and drink this two times a day (in addition to as much plain water I can drink — I aim for 72 oz.) and it makes such a difference in the breakouts I get. The vitamin c from the lemon is a great antioxidant for the skin, the apple cider vinegar is a nutrient powerhouse, and the Himalayan salt adds electrolytes. All of these ingredients together balance your body’s pH to optimize overall health and digestion. They say the gut microbiome is the second brain, and a lot of the physical symptoms we can suffer from actually start in the gut — I think this is definitely the case for acne.
Here are some of the nutrient-dense properties of apple cider vinegar:
magnesium
iron
phosphorus
manganese
amino acids
antioxidants
only 3 calories per tablespoon.
To me, this tonic tastes like a healthy lemonade but don’t go overboard with the apple cider vinegar. It’s better to do a small quantity (a tablespoon) and drink it twice a day than force it down in one go.
Try this daily for around three weeks and you will notice a big impact on your skin.
I actually love the taste and look forward to starting my day with this health tonic.
